The Tobago House of Assembly developed an Energy Resource Department in October 2019. The Tobago House of Assembly developed an Energy Resource Department in October 2019. This Department assesses how renewable energy can best be utilized in Tobago to reduce consumer cost and reduce our environmental footprint. While there are many renewable energy technology consumers on the island, it is projected that this form of energy will formally penetrate Tobago’s market in 2020 and beyond. Public awareness plans and renewable energy sensitivity initiatives are therefore currently being developed.
Duties and Responsibilities
a. To conduct energy audits at the Division and at schools to reduce energy costs.
b. To assess load estimations based on energy consumption patterns.
c. To determine how renewable energy systems can be best integrated into schools through for example, a suitable solar photovoltaic design.
d. To determine the economic and social feasibility of integrating a solar solution into schools’ existing power generation mechanisms.
e. To assess the impact of totally transitioning schools to renewable energy technology.
f. To conduct solar design cost analyses in communities to assess and compare the capital cost of power generated by solar energy.
